MOVIE NEWS – Nicholas Hoult will play Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. The DCU actor looks perfect as the character in the retro comic book-style fan art.

Superman: Legacy actor Lex Luthor looks extremely “comic book-like” in new DC Universe fan photos. The film’s cast received major additions after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended. Among others announced are María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. Also, that Nicholas Hoult will be Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy. With the casting of the main villain, fans began to imagine what Hoult would look like as Luthor.

Taking to Twitter, artist @davi_a86 shared a look at what Hoult might look like as Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy in classic comic book style.

With his bald head, green and purple outfit, and a mischievous glint in his eye, Hoult looks perfect as Lex. James Gunn still hasn’t directly confirmed Lex’s role in the film. So, we look forward to future updates of Superman: Legacy to reveal more details about Hoult’s character. As well as what he might look like in the DCU movie.

Nicholas Hoult is better as Lex Luthor than Superman

Before landing the role of Lex, Hoult almost played two of DC’s biggest heroes: Batman and Superman. Hoult was the runner-up for the role of Bruce Wayne in director Matt Reeves’ The Batman. However, the actor lost the role to Robert Pattinson. Hoult was then one of three actors – along with Tom Brittney and David Corenswet – who were auditioned for the title role in Superman: Legacy. This was eventually given to Corenswet.

Although Hoult was trying to play one of DC’s most iconic heroes, the actor’s sensibility would have always made him better suited to other types of roles, and a complex villain like Lex Luthor is perfect for him.

The best live-action version of Lex is played by Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville. The actor gave a layered performance, with both charismatic and brooding moments. Hoult recently played the arrogant and infantile Czar Peter in The Great series for three seasons. Able to captivate those around him with his magnetic charm, Hoult is more than ready to bring a complex Lex to the DCU.

The actor can make Lex a character that the audience loves to hate. And Hoult can go from charismatic to arrogant in an instant. He also has experience in superhero movies, as he played Beast in the younger sequel to the Fox X-Men movies. This role shows that he has what it takes to play one of the most intelligent characters in comics like Lex. Hoult’s filmography is full of roles that showcase his range from comedy to drama. Gunn likes to make the most of this sort of thing. This makes him an excellent choice for the role of Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy.
