Chris Evans has addressed rumours that Marvel plans to bring all the original Avengers back to the MCU. Recently, there have been rumours that Marvel Studios is planning to bring back the original six Avengers after some disappointing flops. That is, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Thor would all return for some new project. No further details were disclosed. Nor how and when this Avengers reunion could potentially happen.

Evans recently appeared on The View and responded to these rumours. The star, who played Captain America in the MCU from 2011 to 2019, said he was aware of the stories but hadn’t heard anything to confirm them.

While he didn’t completely rule out the possibility of a return, he said he would only do so if the project was perfect.

“You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me. I think every couple months, someone says that they’re getting Downey, and Hemsworth, and Scarlet, and everyone’s coming back! No one’s spoken to me about it . And look, I would never say never, but I really — I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right.”

The Avengers return rumours started with a Variety report that included other Marvel bombshells. The publication claimed that the studio was considering bringing back the original six Avengers for one film. But he hasn’t committed to the idea yet. At the premiere of The Marvels, Kevin Feige responded to the rumours.

He claimed he was unaware of any such plans being made, but he did not shy away from the idea outright.

“We’ll have to see. Is that the answer? Fallen Avengers that are returning…is that [the new rumour]? I have literally not seen that. We did not discuss that [after having the rumour explained to him ] at the retreat is the truth. We are doing a project with Scarlet. I love Robert, he is a part of the family but in terms of returning, we’ll have to see.”

The rest of the cast, including Scarlett Johansson, also addressed their possible return. The actress told Today that it would take a “real Marvel miracle” for Black Widow to come back from the dead. It seems that these rumours are just speculation for now. Evans’ response correlates with others that an Avengers reunion isn’t happening anytime soon.
