Skyrim Co-Op Mod’s Creator Has Given Up On Modding Starfield!

The modder has had enough and will leave the game of Todd Howard and Bethesda Game Studios behind.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which has been out for 12 years now (how time flies…), is one of the games with the most mods on Nexus Mods: it has nearly 130,000 mods in total if you count the Special Edition re-release along with the base version. It also has a co-op mod, Skyrim Together, which allows up to 30 people to play together. Its latest version, Skyrim Together Reborn, has been so successful that it has had over 1 million downloads! The mod is so big that mods are being made for it…

Starfield was released three months ago, but there are already more than 6,000 mods. The question is whether the game can keep the interest and attention, because if the answer is no, there won’t be as many mods. Skyrim Together developer Robbe Bryssinck, who goes by the name Cosideci, announced on Discord that he was fed up with Starfield: “When the game came out, I was hyped like a lot of people, but probably for different reasons. I spent launch day and a few days afterward reverse-engineering the game and porting gameplay hooks from Skyrim Together into a potential Starfield Together mod. I ported about 70% of the reverse-engineered code from Skyrim Together to Starfield Together.

There was only one problem: this game sucks. I didn’t realize this until I actually started playing the damn game a week after its release. It’s boring, bland, and the big draw of Bethesda games is exploration in a vibrant and handcrafted world. That’s completely missing from Starfield. I’m not going to continue development on Starfield Together. I’m not going to put my heart and soul into a mod for such a mediocre game,” Cosideci wrote.

He is making the code open source so that others can continue his work, but he says it will take more than 100 hours of work…
