Insomniac’s Next Spider-Man Game Could Revolve Around the Spider-Verse!

Insomniac Games might be weaving an exciting new project that could bring the Spider-Verse to gamers. According to a recently leaked document, the studio is planning several future projects, including a new Ratchet & Clank game and Spider-Man 3, along with a mysterious project named “Spider-“, which might hint at the Spider-Verse universe. This development is particularly intriguing due to the potential multiplayer elements, opening up new dimensions in gameplay.

Insomniac Games, renowned for delivering stunning gaming experiences, is making headlines again with a leaked document suggesting exciting new directions for the studio. Shared on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit, the document includes a project codenamed “RCE”, likely the latest addition to the Ratchet & Clank series, the anticipated Spider-Man 3, and a project referred to as “Spider-“, whose name is cut off. However, another section of the document explicitly mentions Spider-Verse, discussing additional support for it. This is particularly interesting as it might indicate that the game is actually a multiplayer project being developed.

The leak of the Insomniac document came to light during a ransomware attack by Rhysida, which confirmed the acquisition of confidential data, including a screenshot showcasing character art from the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine. Sony has acknowledged the ransomware attack, but how both companies will address this massive security risk remains unclear, especially since personal data of employees seems to be part of the stolen data.

Insomniac’s latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, is now available on PlayStation 5. The game boasts an emotionally charged story, enhanced traversal mechanics, stunning visuals and performance, and industry-leading accessibility, making it likely to win over most fans of the original. However, a larger shake-up may be necessary for the inevitable Spider-Man 3.
