Legendary Call of Duty Actor Dies at Age 56 on Christmas Day

Actor Kamar de los Reyes, best known for playing the villainous Raul Menendez in the Call of Duty franchise, has died at the age of 56.

 

Actor Kamar de los Reyes, best known for his work in the Call of Duty franchise, has died at the age of 56. De los Reyes worked in the best Call of Duty games and will be missed by fans of the franchise and those who followed his career on television and in the movies.

The Puerto Rican actor was born in San Juan in 1967 and began his career in the 80s, appearing in dozens of films and several TV series. His first work in the gaming industry was in 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 as Raul Menendez, one of the most brutal villains in Call of Duty history. De los Reyes then reprised the same character in 2018’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, followed by Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Vanguard. Outside of the gaming industry, he was best known for his work on the series One Life to Live and Sleepy Hollow.

Kamar de los Reyes died of cancer on Christmas Eve, according to a family spokesperson. He is survived by his wife, Sherri Saum, and three sons, twins Michael Luis and Jobhn Rubé, and Caylen. The Call of Duty actor is reportedly set to star in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, which is currently in development at Marvel Studios and is set for release in 2024. He has also filmed scenes for the upcoming series Washington Black, which will be released on Hulu at some point in the future.

Kamar de los Reyes’ character, Raul Menendez, will always be remembered as one of Call of Duty’s best characters and one of the franchise’s most fearsome villains. Leading the terrorist group Cordis Die, Menendez had a charismatic presence and a strong aura of terror.

Kamar de los Reyes last appeared in a Call of Duty game in 2021’s Call of Duty: Vanguard. Although his character was not part of the main storyline, Raul Menendez appeared in Call of Duty: Vanguard as a Tyrant faction operator.
