Here’s what Ubisoft wrote about the seasonal content: “Players will embark on a perilous journey and face legendary pirate lords such as Philippe La Peste and the Hubac Twins. In a feeding frenzy, players will have to strategize and defeat these new threats, each escalating in difficulty. Strategic ship loadouts and seasonal ships and equipment will be key to defeating them in the final showdown at the end of each season. Prepare to expand and defend your empire by looting more powerful equipment and valuable resources through new world events introduced each season. Face merchant convoys, elite warships, and other predators on the high seas. Greater challenges bring greater rewards as you navigate these dynamic and unpredictable waters.”

What about endgame activities? “Discover the intense endgame of Skull and Bones, where you’ll face more dangerous challenges, higher stakes, and alliances that can turn into rivalries. Go from working with the Kingpins to becoming their rivals as you face the dangerous consequences of the treacherous pirate life. Take control of The Helm, an unrivaled smuggling colossus, and build your smuggling empire. Control manufactories across the Indian Ocean, increase profits by strategically controlling trade routes, and invest in upgrades for your operations. In addition, Legendary Heists and Hostile Takeovers add an exciting twist to empire building, with new endgame features introduced each season.”

Finally, PvP: “Engage in high-stakes PvP with high-risk, high-reward Helm Wagers and Cutthroat Cargo. Accept challenges and legendary treasure maps that literally put a target on your head until you reach the destination outpost. Rise to the top and build your reputation among the Kingpins, earning rewards based on your rankings. Participate in free, timed events each season, collaborate with other pirates, complete exclusive community events, and claim treasure troves of loot. The leaderboard resets each season with new rewards, encouraging players to continually strive for the top spot.”

Skull and Bones will be released on February 16th for PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles, PC and Amazon Luna. Will there be demand for another game like this after Sea of Thieves?
