Are We At Least A Year And A Half Away From The Next Apple Vision Pro?

TECH NEWS – There are still a lot of problems for the Cupertino-based tech giant to overcome.

The Apple Vision Pro has received positive reviews from Microsoft’s Word chief and Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI), but the product isn’t perfect and it isn’t cheap. However, Apple still has time to fix the problems with the device so that the next model of the product can be released to the public with better quality.

But the company needs to set a sales bar for the current Apple Vision Pro before it unveils the second-generation model. Apple has about a year and a half to do that, while the device will likely be available worldwide before WWDC 2024. Mark Gurman, writing for Bloomberg, puts this at eighteen months until the next model is released. Until then, the AR headset team will have some fine-tuning to do based on feedback.

“Apple Inc. is likely at least 18 months away from releasing a second-generation Vision Pro. Based on the early response to the first version, that could be a long time for some people to wait. Since the Vision Pro debuted on February 2, it’s become clear that the mixed reality headset is still a work in progress. Despite the dazzling demos – and generally positive reviews – it can be a challenge to use on a daily basis. It’s heavy. The interface isn’t always smooth. And it’s hard to forget that you paid $3,500 or more for this experience. Vision Pro loyalists point out that the current model is only the first generation. It will get better over time. Don’t forget, they say, that the original iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch all had their quirks. If the headset feels too heavy, you’re wearing it wrong. The narrower-than-expected field of view and glare? That’s normal,” Gurman wrote.

But he didn’t say whether this second-generation model is an evolution of the first headset, or if it’s the cheaper version already rumored (which could have a weaker display and an iPhone-based chipset instead of a Mac), the latter rumored for 2025, the former for 2027, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo…
