Marc Laidlaw founded Yellow Brick Games with several former Ubisoft developers in November 2020, and it took them three years to officially reveal their first game (a third-person fantasy action adventure), but they’ve finally done it.

Play as Brynn, a young but fearless weaver determined to restore her people’s cultural home in the debut fantasy action-adventure title from Yellow Brick Games, a new independent studio founded by industry veterans. Armed with powerful magical abilities and an arsenal of magical weapons, you will face enemies ranging from humanoid constructs to towering beasts. Use the environment and temperature to your advantage in battles against a wide variety of fantastical creatures, such as using the fiery breath of a dragon against ice-covered minions. Climb any surface and use arcane skills to carve new paths. Explore the world in search of the lost secrets of the Enclave and challenge giant titans along the way.

At the heart of Eternal Strands is a revolutionary new system of gameplay interactions: heat spreads, cold chills, and real-time destruction allow for unprecedented reactivity in combat. Use your telekinetic powers to hurl burning logs at enemies, snap nearby trees to block enemy fire, or channel raw telekinetic power to rip boulders from the ground. Wear the Mantle, a magical cape that channels raw magic into raging flame, freezing ice, and telekinetic power. Combine your growing array of powers with enchanted weapons and armor crafted from slain enemies to create a unique look and style. Block incoming attacks with a wall of magical ice, unleash waves of flame from a massive two-handed blade, or hurl enemies off a cliff with raw strength.

Face gigantic enemies and defeat them with a mix of sword, spell, and agility. Jump and climb onto their massive forms to attack from different angles. Shatter armor or slice through weak spots to weaken their protection. Use ice to pierce the limbs of a towering enemy, arcane flames to singe their hide, or catch lobbed projectiles and turn their attacks back upon them in battles that leave scars on the land. Increase the effectiveness of your ice abilities during a freeze to open new pathways. Use a heat wave to start a wildfire and watch it spread toward enemies as it consumes the tinder-dry trees and grass around it.

Explore the wilderness, the capital city of Dynevron, and the secrets beneath as every surface is climbable. Magical abilities can build bridges, burn barriers, or launch Brynn across the world. The next-generation physics system encourages and rewards player creativity in exploration as well as combat. As the secrets of the Enclave unfold, return to Base Camp to consult with a rich cast of characters. Each is eager to unlock the mysteries of what happened to this lost bastion of power and knowledge.

No release date is known for Eternal Strands; it’s coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam).
