Far Cry 7: Did Ubisoft Accidentally Reveal That The Game Is In The Works?!

A job offer from one of Ubisoft’s Canadian studios mentions a “Far Cry project”, which reinforces the Far Cry 7 rumours.

Almost three years have passed since the release of Far Cry 6. Ubisoft has been supporting the game with exciting updates and expansions for quite a few months. However, the company recently bid farewell to Far Cry 6 amid rumours of a supposed Far Cry 7. There are signs that the company wants to continue making games in one of its most successful franchises, which combines action, FPS and open world. Here is the latest news that has come to light.

As first reported by PCGamesN, a job offer for one of Ubisoft’s Canadian studios (Toronto, Montreal and Sherbrooke) clearly lists a “Far Cry project” among the details.

No further details have been shared about this game. However, the job posting lists the roles that Ubisoft needs: associate producer, game design team leader, art team leader, or programming team leader. This clarifies that the game is still in pre-production and not fully developed.

This is because these positions are more related to project management than the video game development process. At the same time, rumours surfaced months ago that Far Cry 7 was already in development. But it seems that this is not the only game that Ubisoft is making for the saga. After all, according to Tom Henderson, the company is also working on a multiplayer project (Project Maverick). This draft would be an extraction shooter. It would have mechanics like permanent death, contracts, an inventory system, and more.

More details on Far Cry 7

Meanwhile, delving into the details of the franchise’s next numbered FPS, we already reported months ago that the new Far Cry is starting to take shape. It is said to be developed by the team behind Ubisoft’s biggest remake, Splinter Cell.

Focusing on Far Cry 7 (Project Blackbird), Insider Gaming reported that Ubisoft may be breaking with the status quo and opting for a non-linear adventure game.

The scenario is supposed to be that we become members of a wealthy family whose members are kidnapped by a sect. The reason for the action is that we have to save as many family members as we want in the order chosen by the player. All this is made more difficult by the fact that the game takes place in real-time for 24 hours. Time is working against us and there will be alternate endings depending on the people saved. As a final touch, Ubisoft would also introduce an interrogation mechanic to get more details about our kidnapped family members. However, the enemy can lie, run, or simply remain silent. We’ll have to wait and see if all these rumours from Tom Henderson are true.
