Kingdom Come: Deliverance: You’ll Never Guess What Happened After The Sequel’s Announcement…

Although it has not yet been released, the creators of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 have already started making money with their new game.

It was the game that generated countless conversations around its release. Now, six years later, it has managed to return to the limelight. With the announcement of a sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Warhorse Studios is experiencing a renaissance of its original game. The daily peak of concurrent users on Steam has increased by over 300% in the past few days! Thus, the title reached its best record since March 2018. In other words, it has the same number of players now as it did six weeks after its release, which is pretty rough.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance “reborn”

For comparison, Kingdom Come Deliverance peaked at 5,807 concurrent users last March. More than 23,000 people played simultaneously this weekend (data via SteamDB). This increase can be attributed to a combination of two factors. On the one hand, to announce the continuation. On the other hand, a juicy sale is still active on Steam, which has reduced its price by 80%.

In this sense, the game has become very accessible to those who put it aside at the time and now want to prepare for the sequel, which will be released in 2024.

Phenomenons like Warhorse Studios’ medieval RPG are becoming increasingly common in the video game industry. The most obvious example of this is Fallout. Thanks to the release of the Prime Video series, several instalments of the game produced a very significant increase in both sales and the number of players. Something similar happened to the Grand Theft Auto series at the end of last year. The release of the GTA VI trailer brought all the games in the franchise back into the spotlight.

This is an exciting situation for game developers to exploit in the future. We’ve always known that hype sells, but we couldn’t quantify it until now. In this sense, we can see that the hype surrounding KC:D 2 is an immediate revenue stream for the game’s creators. They didn’t even have to wait for the release to make a profit from their project…
