Nicolas Cage Stars In A Movie About Jesus Christ, But The Choice Of Genre Is A Bit Surprising…

MOVIE NEWS – The Carpenter’s Son explores the life of young Jesus Christ and his family as they face natural and divine horrors…

While there have been plenty of horror films about demonic possession, exorcisms, and strange religious events, few, if any, have examined the life of Jesus Christ… until now. Nicolas Cage has been announced to star in director Lotfy Nathan’s (Harka) new horror film The Carpenter’s Son. Cage will star alongside FKA Twigs (The Crow), Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two) and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place Part II) and will be produced by Cinenovo and Pacemaker.

According to Deadline, The Carpenter’s Son will explore the life of a young Jesus Christ and his family, who become targets of “natural and divine” horrors.

Nathan, for the script in AD. He drew inspiration from the 2nd-century apocryphal “Infancy Gospel of Thomas”, the text of which tells the life of the budding saviour. You can check out the official synopsis below.

“The Carpenter’s Son tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt. The son, known only as ‘the Boy’, is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine.”

Nicolas Cage will play the Carpenter (the biblical Joseph), while FKA Twigs will play the Mother (Mary). Noah Jupe will be the Boy (Jesus). And Yacoub will appear in an unknown role for the time being.

Whether The Carpenter’s Son will be able to be as successful as recent religious horror films remains to be seen. However, with Cage and his strange history, at least he’ll have a chance to appeal to fans. After all, many people have been lobbying for more original films to be made for a long time. Filming is expected to begin this summer.
