Neglected SEGA Franchise to Reappear at Gamescom? [VIDEO]

Although the Japanese publisher has already mentioned that it is trying to do something with this IP, a lot of rumors about this franchise have surfaced since then… here’s the latest.

Xbox first made a reference to this franchise on WhatsApp when he wrote this: “Making memories. Feels like summer”. The first sentence appeared with a picture on Xbox’s Instagram account in Mexico, but the WhatsApp message was accompanied by a cryptic video that strongly suggested that a remaster of Jet Set Radio Future could be in the works. This game was released for Xbox 22 years ago, and the video not only reminded us of the Xbox-exclusive episode of Jet Set Radio with its vivid visuals, but also with the music, which had that unique style…

SEGA will be at Gamescom, and with no E3 this year, it’s set to be one of the biggest in-person video game events of the summer. The timing of the Japanese company’s trip to Cologne and the simultaneous reference to Jet Set Radio doesn’t seem to be a coincidence. Marketing materials for Xbox have surfaced on Twitter, and it seems that fans have been very receptive to the upcoming announcement. One of them wrote that if the Jet Set Radio Future remaster is true, they’ll buy an Xbox Series X to play it on their TV in widescreen 4K resolution. Another wrote that if SEGA releases the remaster, his life will belong to the Japanese publisher.

So it’s not only the first part that could be made (we’ve heard of reboots and remasters…), but also the second. There’s no doubt that SEGA’s IP has a large audience so far, and the Japanese publisher wants to capitalize on that. Since Jet Set Radio Future was Xbox exclusive, the remaster will probably only be an Xbox Series/PC pairing, unless SEGA thinks it’s time to make this a multiplatform title.

But this is all unofficial…
