No Man’s Sky Teams Up with Mass Effect Once Again! [VIDEO]

While Starfield’s first major content update was a paid update, No Man’s Sky has received many major updates for free, and this time is no different!

No Man’s Sky has received several major updates. The first is the ability to use a save on any platform. Starting today, they are rolling out cross-save support on all platforms. This has been a huge undertaking and one of the most requested features. The ability to seamlessly jump between platforms is truly transformative. Players can play on their console from the comfort of their couch, continue an expedition on the go with Switch or Steam Deck, build an incredible base on their powerful PC rig, and view it in incredibly immersive virtual reality.

No Man’s Sky now supports cross-play and cross-save between a wide range of platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Game Pass, GOG, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2, and PC VR. Adding the ability to transfer saves between platforms via a server is particularly difficult for No Man’s Sky, as the work involved increases with each supported platform and the length of time people have been playing. Both are big numbers for the small team of developers.

They are now ready to start rolling out Cross-Save to a small number of players. Starting today, all No Man’s Sky players will be able to link their different platform accounts here. A subset of players will then be invited to join the beta. Beta participants will be able to upload and download saves from any connected platform via the in-game save screen. All players will be invited in the coming weeks.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is now supported and it’s one of the only titles that can do 8K! They were so excited to get their hands on it in the early days of development. They couldn’t wait to see what was possible in No Man’s Sky with so much power at their disposal. PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) allows for incredible upscaling to deliver crisp 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. No Man’s Sky will also be an early supporter of 8K resolution, with the universe looking incredible in 8K at 30fps. As well as a much sharper resolution at higher frame rates, the increased power of PlayStation 5 Pro has also allowed them to increase the graphical quality across the board. Players on PlayStation 5 Pro will see improved lighting with ultra-quality reflections and higher quality ambient occlusion in all modes. All of these improvements are coming to PlayStation VR2 as well!

Everyone at Hello Games is a huge sci-fi nerd. One of their all-time favorite series is the incredible Mass Effect games. As part of Mass Effect’s annual N7 celebration, they are excited to welcome the legendary SSV Normandy SR1 back to No Man’s Sky! Back in 2021, the Normandy made its first appearance on one of the first expeditions ever undertaken. The limited-time expedition begins today and lasts for two weeks, culminating in players being able to claim the Normandy for their fleet. In the years since that event, they have welcomed a huge number of travelers, not the least of which is a whole new cohort of Switch players and a growing number of Chinese fans. Many of these new players have envied those who proudly display their Normandy in their frigate collection.

So the 5.25 update to No Man’s Sky is really powerful!
