Wicked Nominated for Lots of Awards

MOVIE NEWS – The musical Wicked has won 22 awards and been nominated for around 100 awards so far. The awards and nominations have come from various critics’ societies and film professional organizations, the most significant of which are the four Golden Globes, which are decided by foreign correspondents accredited in Hollywood. After these, it is certain that there will be no shortage of Oscar nominations.

The awards and nominations, on the one hand, evaluate Wicked as a production – best film – but the two main characters – Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo –, the director, the cinematographer, the screenwriters, and practically everyone who did significant work on the film (make-up artist, set designer, costume designer) get recognition.

Meanwhile, the title of the second part of Wicked, which will be released next year, has been revealed: Wicked: For Good. The title refers to the duet between the two heroines, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande), in which they sing about how their friendship, tinged with hostility, changed their lives forever. Naturally, the two main characters informed the audience about the new title on Instagram.

Still in the meantime: Variety writes that the two stars of Wicked allied protection and defiance before filming. Grande is considered a much bigger star than Erivo, so there was a fear that she would receive a lot of money and her British colleague would be paid a pittance, as is customary in Hollywood, even though they will work the same amount of time in the film. So Grande called Erivó and they went over their contracts point by point, so that there was no chance of them being pushed out with anyone.
