GTA 6 Might Already Be Fully Playable – Former Rockstar Developer Claims

GTA 6 has reached a major development milestone. A former Rockstar developer suggests the open world may already be playable from start to finish. The creators of the new Grand Theft Auto are reportedly polishing details and fixing bugs, according to former animator Mike York.

Months continue to pass without any major updates from Rockstar regarding GTA VI. As a result, the fan community clings to every leaked clue or statement from former Rockstar employees to piece together the latest information on the highly anticipated open-world adventure. This time, Mike York, a former animator who worked on GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, caught players’ attention by discussing the possible current state of the new Grand Theft Auto based on his experience with the developer. Among other things, he claimed the game might already be playable from start to finish.

York gave an interview to content creator Kiwi Talkz, but Rockstar has since requested its removal from YouTube. The publisher took down the video because the former animator “said things he shouldn’t have.” Unsurprisingly, this move hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Grand Theft Auto fanbase. Fortunately, sites like GamesRadar+ managed to retrieve excerpts from the conversation, shedding further light on GTA 6.

During the interview, York speculated on the game’s current development state: “They’re probably still adding things here and there, but I’d guess the game is already playable, and a small group is testing everything from start to finish.” He continued, “There are probably tons of bugs, and they’re fixing those bugs, trying to find as many as possible before launch because GTA is unlike any other game.”

Former Animator Isn’t Sure GTA 6 Will Run at 60 FPS

As mentioned earlier, York’s interview was removed at Rockstar’s request. The former animator shared several theories about GTA 6, all based on his experience working on GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption. During the discussion, he explained the differences between designing an open world for GTA versus a game like The Witcher and expressed doubts about the game’s performance on consoles. Specifically, York isn’t sure whether the game will be able to run at 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
