Forza Horizon 6: Be Careful With Your Saves! A Few Tips to Avoid Trouble!

The latest Forza Horizon entry, which will soon also make its way to PlayStation 5, is in a slightly problematic state when it comes to save files.

Microsoft has said it is aware of an issue in Forza Horizon 6 that has caused some players to lose their save files. In a post on the official Forza support site, Playground Games writes that it is investigating an issue affecting some Forza Horizon 6 players, which may cause game save data to be lost or reset. The investigation is ongoing, and the company advises anyone who loses a save to open a ticket immediately on the Forza support website, allowing the team to investigate the issue and increasing the chances of save recovery. Players who lose their saves should not start a new game session or create a new save until their case has been reviewed, in order to avoid further problems.

According to Microsoft, updates are currently being prepared to resolve the issues, and fixes for the PC version have already started rolling out through the Gaming Services client. For the Xbox Series version, the issue will be addressed with a firmware update, and its rollout began yesterday. Until the problem is fully resolved, Playground Games has provided the following advice as general guidance to prevent save files from becoming corrupted.

Make sure the Gaming Services app running on PC or Xbox Series is fully up to date. On Xbox Series, disable Quick Resume for Forza Horizon 6. Highlight the game’s cover art anywhere in the console interface, such as Home, My Games and Apps, Pins, or similar menus, then press the Menu button and select Manage Game and Add-ons > Quick Resume Settings > Disable Quick Resume. Make sure we are online when quitting the game. Give the save time to sync with the cloud before powering off the device or switching devices. Do not force quit the game during save screens. Do not power off the device during gameplay. If an “Out of space” pop-up appears alongside a game crash, they recommend checking storage and restarting the console through the menu option or the Xbox controller button.

It also notes that players who regularly switch between devices, whether from one Xbox to another or between different PCs, need to be especially careful, because this involves additional uploading and downloading of save data from the cloud.
