MOVIE NEWS – The erotic drama Babygirl starring Nicole Kidman was released on January 30th, and was seen by nearly 15,000 people in domestic cinemas during its first weekend.
Halina Reijn, the director of the black comedy Bodies Bodies, is back with an erotic drama inspired by the films Unfair Offer and Basic Instinct, among others. Babygirl had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, where Nicole Kidman won the Best Actress award. Critics also unanimously praised Kidman’s performance, calling it her bravest and best performance in recent times.
The Good Girl was released in Hungary on January 30, 2025, and was seen by 14,932 people on its opening weekend, making it the highest-opening A24 film in Hungary, grossing over 40 million forints. It beat out films such as The Brutalist, Talk to Me!, Civil War, The Time of Love, and The Whale.
Reijn’s latest film has also been a global success, reaching $50 million worldwide last week, and based on the feedback, mental health professionals have also started using the film to facilitate discourse on female sexuality and aging.
Romy (Nicole Kidman), a powerful CEO, risks her career and marriage when she begins a passionate affair with her much younger intern, Samuel (Harris Dickinson). Their romance, overheated with eroticism and full of bizarre games, takes increasingly strange turns, and the woman becomes uncertain about who is really in control in their subordinate-superior relationship.
The Good Girl was released in Hungarian cinemas on January 30, 2025, distributed by ADS Service.
