CINEMA NEWS – Pixar Animation Studios’ first-ever original series will be available on Disney+ starting February 19th. “Win or Lose” tells the story of the week of preparation for a championship softball game from the perspectives of eight very different characters – insecure kids, their overly protective parents, and a lovesick umpire – all in an incredibly funny, emotional, and uniquely animated way. The trailer and images for the new series are now available.
“I played softball when I was young, and that gave me the idea to create a very unique and special world,” – said Carrie Hobson, who is the writer, director and executive producer of the series with Michael Yates. “There are many seemingly insignificant but important aspects of sports that I love and that can throw even the most calm person off their feet. And when it comes to winning, many people completely lose control, even if the result is not at stake. We felt that this line and these characters provided the best possible backdrop for our story, so what we were saying really made sense.”
According to Yates, the idea of telling the story from different perspectives came from Pixar’s everyday life. “Carrie and I were colleagues on ‘Toy Story 4’” – he said. “We both worked on the script and talked about a lot of things that were happening in the movie or in the world – current events, news. We always reacted differently or interpreted the same thing differently. One of us said, “That went great!” and the other said, “No! It was horrible, what are you talking about?” We realized that our own experiences, the way we live things, change the way we perceive events. We wanted to tell a story that reflects that.”
The cast of “Win or Lose” is voiced by Will Forte, Rosie Foss, Josh Thomson, Milan Elizabeth Ray, Rosa Salazar, Dorien Watson, Izaac Wang, Chanel Stewart, Lil Rel Howery, Melissa Villaseñor, Jo Firestone, Flula Borg, Kyleigh Curran, Jaylin Fletcher, Erin Keif, Tom Law, Beck Nolan, Orion Tran, and Rhea Seehorn. The incredibly witty, emotional and uniquely animated series is produced by David Lally, while its music is composed by Ramin Djawadi and CAMPFIRE.
