Sony is back with another upgrade restriction that will frustrate some players. Not everyone with the PS4 version of Days Gone can get the PS5 remaster for $10. If you owned the game outright, you’re fine – but PS Plus users from 2021 are out of luck.
After months of rumors, it’s official: Days Gone is returning – not with a sequel, but as a remaster. Announced at PlayStation’s recent State of Play, Days Gone Remastered lands on PS5 and PS5 Pro in April 2025, featuring improved visuals and new content. However, there’s a major caveat: Sony has confirmed that players who accessed the game via PS Plus will not be eligible for the $10 upgrade.
The remaster introduces several new features, including Permadeath mode, where every decision is final, and Speedrun mode, for those who want to blitz through the game’s story. Enhanced photo mode options, accessibility improvements, and full DualSense support round out the package.
While the game benefits from sharper textures, improved FPS, and refined graphics, many players argue that these tweaks don’t justify a full remaster. Bend Studio announced that PS4 owners can upgrade for $10, but the catch? Those who played via PS Plus in 2021 or through PS Plus Extra won’t be able to participate.
No Standalone PC Version – But There’s a DLC
Another key detail: Days Gone Remastered is not launching as a standalone release on PC. Instead, the additional content will be available as the Broken Road DLC, featuring all the remaster’s upgrades for $10.
