If you were hoping for a new God of War game announcement, think again. The upcoming PlayStation event celebrating the franchise’s legacy will focus solely on its past, with no surprises in store for fans. Sony Santa Monica has officially confirmed that the God of War 20th Anniversary panel—featuring actors from the series—will not include any new game reveals.
Fans of God of War had high hopes for the upcoming anniversary celebration. This March marks 20 years since Kratos’ legendary saga began, and PlayStation has organized a special event to look back on the franchise’s evolution. Many believed this would be the perfect opportunity for Sony and Santa Monica to tease a new entry in the series, reinforcing recent rumors circulating on social media. However, organizers have now made it clear—there will be no new game announcements.
The God of War 20th Anniversary event aims to “celebrate 20 years of unforgettable moments from Kratos’ journey through ancient Greek and Norse mythology, which has captivated millions around the world.” According to details posted on Gallery Nucleus, where tickets are available, the exhibition will be held in Alhambra, California, from March 15 to 23.
The final panel, scheduled for March 22, will feature a discussion with several actors who have brought the God of War universe to life, including Christopher Judge (Kratos), Sunny Suljic (Atreus), and Carole Ruggier (Athena). While the event is undoubtedly a major milestone for the franchise, Santa Monica Studio has emphasized that it will not be used as a platform for unveiling new titles. “With such an incredible team and the excitement surrounding this anniversary, we want to make it clear that no announcements are planned for this event,” the studio wrote on X. In other words, don’t expect any updates regarding the future of the God of War series.
Christopher Judge Shuts Down Rumors About New Game Announcements
For months, speculation has been rampant regarding the next chapter in the God of War saga following the events of Ragnarök. In fact, this isn’t the first time expectations have been set—and then dashed—about upcoming franchise news. Back in November, Christopher Judge, the voice of Kratos in the latest entries, unintentionally fueled speculation by hinting that an announcement was on the way. However, after witnessing the frenzy his comments sparked, he later walked back his statement, confirming that there were no imminent plans for a new game reveal.
