A Swiss retailer has leaked how much Rockstar and Take-Two will charge for the game, which could determine the fate of the gaming industry.
A post on Reddit has revealed the price a Swiss retailer has set for pre-ordering Grand Theft Auto VI. They are asking for around 90-100 Swiss francs. That’s about $110! So what we reported earlier may be true. It’s possible that the open-world adventure, which will be released for the first time on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, will indeed cost $100 in the US. Grand Theft Auto Online is included in that price, of course, because there’s no way Rockstar and Take-Two are just going to ignore the headline-grabbing game that continues to bring in big bucks for the publisher.
According to one Reddit commenter, none of the retailers know what’s going on, and they only know the price when the public does, and they’re just doing the listing in advance so that when pre-orders start, they have a chance to swoop in and grab players’ money. Another commenter claims that it’s just a temporary (placeholder) page and price, and they should calm down. They say it’s just to get people interested in the site. So they will visit the site en masse, which will bring in the clicks.
A third comment said that based on the reviews on the website (to which they have responded) they seem to have a good estimate of the price tag, but admitted that they have no idea when exactly Grand Theft Auto VI will be released and that the price could change at any moment, which is understandable since Take-Two has not yet publicly stated any of this, but has admitted that it will build on this game in the new fiscal year starting April 1st…
Grand Theft Auto VI will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series sometime in the fall. The PC port hasn’t even been announced yet, but it’s definitely coming…
