Marvel Rivals: An Update Has Caked Up the Male Characters!

NetEase’s game has taken a bit of a stab at some of the characters’ backsides… and it’s not a joke, it’s actually what’s changed on them!

The developers of Marvel Rivals must know their audience, because the latest patch includes an update that has brought fans a cake-y update. When the second season of Marvel Rivals launched last week, players noticed that some of the game’s character assets looked a little more chubby. Specifically, the male characters’ buttocks have become more shapely. While Emma Frost’s famous thighs won’t be surpassed, the “butt patch” has finally satisfied fans’ demand for male characters to be more equal.

Of course, NetEase didn’t mention this change in the update, but a Reddit thread summarized how someone’s butt just got bumpier. Users’ reactions were mostly positive. Some players who made jokes about the male characters’ buttocks were surprised that the developers paid attention. One user said that they should make everyone’s butts look better, that the ones that were too big looked like they’d had bad surgery, and that the others looked too flat, and really didn’t expect to be taken seriously. Others laugh at the time and attention the developers seem to have put into making the male characters look good. Another commenter was surprised at how subtle it was. He thinks it looks like a developer really fiddled with those dimensions to make it perfect.

Not all fans were happy with this minor posterior enhancement, however, and some were downright concerned about the source material and anatomical accuracy, calling for an even bigger butt lift. There were those who thought these characters had round butts in the comics and wondered if this was some kind of censorship. Others still think the butts are small, but see it as an improvement, since some of the butts used to look pretty sad.

Still, it’s an interesting update.
