Not all content from Days Gone Remastered will be free for PC players. While visual upgrades from the PS5 and PS5 Pro versions will be included at no extra charge, new features like Horde Assault Mode are locked behind the €10 ‘Broken Road’ DLC.
Sony is continuing its push to bring visual upgrades to classic PS4 titles by taking advantage of the power of the PS5 and PS5 Pro. The latest game to receive this treatment is Days Gone. But the company isn’t keeping it exclusive—PC players who already own the title will also get access to a visual overhaul of Deacon St. John’s post-apocalyptic journey. That said, the update isn’t entirely free on PC.
The strategy is pretty clear: Days Gone Remastered’s graphics improvements will come to PC as a free update to the base game. However, gameplay additions are locked to the ‘Broken Road’ DLC. According to the Steam update, the PC version will benefit from major visual upgrades: enhanced world detail, new atmospheric simulation via ozone and spectral light, more realistic indirect lighting and ambient occlusion, and a doubled shadow map resolution when set to maximum. Nights will also appear significantly darker. Additional updates include DualSense support and expanded accessibility options.
The Best Features Are Behind a Paywall
But not everything is included. Some of the most exciting features will only be available in the ‘Broken Road’ DLC, launching on April 25 for PC. This includes Horde Assault Mode, Permadeath Mode, Time Trial Mode, and an enhanced Photo Mode. The DLC already has a dedicated Steam page and is priced at €10—the same cost that PS4 owners must pay to upgrade to the PS5 version.
It’s worth noting that not all PS4 users are eligible for this upgrade. Sony is only offering the €10 update option to those who already own Days Gone either digitally or on disc. If the game was added to your library via PS Plus perks, you’re out of luck and will need to pay full price to access the remaster.
