MOVIE NEWS – Director Edgar Wright announced on social media that filming has wrapped on his new movie, The Running Man. Stephen King’s novel was previously adapted in 1987 into an action film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. This new version, however, is far from a simple remake. Wright’s vision is more faithful to King’s original work and infused with his trademark absurdist style, promising a more elevated cinematic experience. (The writer-director is also known for cult favorites like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Baby Driver.)
In The Running Man, the core story remains intact: a brutal reality show pits multiple bounty hunters against a single contestant, who can win a huge prize if he survives — or die trying. While Schwarzenegger once played a framed cop on the run, the new version stars Glen Powell as an ordinary man desperate to earn big money for his family, even if it costs him his life. The show’s sadistic producer, played by Josh Brolin, now plays a much larger role as the manipulative face of authoritarian power. And this time, the hunt doesn’t just unfold in a rundown urban zone — it spans across the entire United States.
According to early reactions, The Running Man is already generating positive buzz. One early review describes it as a *wonderfully unhinged adventure*, exactly the kind of madness fans expect from Wright.
The Running Man – Rrelease date: November 6, 2025.
