TECH NEWS – The South Korean tech giant has also come up with a plan B in case its original chipset shipments are not enough.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is shaping up to be one of the company’s most anticipated devices, as it could offer premium features at a lower price point. Touted as an excellent value-for-money smartphone, Samsung had to scale back some aspects to strike the right balance between quality and affordability. Still, recent rumors suggest that the device might launch with a more powerful chipset than initially expected, potentially arriving later this year. While the Exynos 2400e was originally expected to power the phone, that might no longer be the case.
Although Samsung has used Exynos chipsets in the past, it could take a different path this time. The company is reportedly considering the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 as an alternative to its in-house Exynos 2400e. Manufactured by TSMC, the Dimensity 9400 is a high-performance 3nm chip and comes at a higher cost compared to Samsung’s own silicon. However, the performance gains could be significant. If the Exynos 2400e isn’t produced in sufficient quantities, Samsung may opt for the stronger Dimensity chip to ensure a better-performing phone.
Samsung still intends to use the Exynos 2400e, meaning the Dimensity 9400 would act as a backup plan. Even if the company chooses MediaTek’s chipset, reports suggest it would not increase the price of the upcoming model, as doing so would undermine the device’s budget-friendly appeal. This would go against Samsung’s ongoing strategy to keep costs low and profits high. If the tech giant does go with the Dimensity 9400, the improved performance could be a major selling point.
Samsung now faces a strategic decision: prioritize better hardware and give users a more capable device at the expense of lower margins, or stick with its in-house Exynos chip and maintain higher profits at the cost of weaker performance.
