M3GAN 2.0 Barely Escapes the R-Rating Once Again

MOVIE NEWS – M3GAN 2.0 has managed to slip past an R rating, securing a PG-13 label despite its darker themes. According to trusted horror source Bloody Disgusting, the sequel is anything but lighthearted and pushes the limits of its age classification.

Much like its 2022 predecessor, which received a similar rating after trimming its most brutal scenes for theatrical release, M3GAN 2.0 benefits from carefully calculated editing. The unrated cut of the first film was only made available for home viewing. The official reason for the PG-13 rating this time includes “violent content, language, and sexual references.”

Bloody Disgusting highlights the remarkable feat of staying under the higher age limit again, especially since the sequel raises the stakes considerably. The story sees the return of the intelligent doll, now upgraded to face off against a new and even deadlier threat: Amelia, a war-ready robot with plans for global domination.

Returning stars Allison Williams and Violet McGraw reprise their roles as the engineer and her now-rebellious teenage niece. Ivanna Sakhno brings the sinister new antagonist, Amelia, to life, promising a chilling performance that escalates the tension.
