TECH NEWS — Although most of the public seemed unimpressed by this year’s slim smartphone, the South Korean company is already preparing next year’s model.
Samsung recently unveiled the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Edge, its slimmest phone yet, which features a dual-camera layout. Contrary to expectations, however, the new phone didn’t perform particularly well in its first week. Despite the lukewarm reception, the tech giant appears committed to launching an updated model in the Galaxy S lineup next year. Samsung is doubling down on the Edge concept, with plans to further refine the Galaxy S26 Edge.
The Galaxy S25 Edge generated buzz even before its launch thanks to its ultra-slim design. At only 5.84 mm thick, it earned praise for its sleekness, but some critics pointed out that compromises had been made — particularly in the battery and telephoto departments. While the reaction to the device was mixed, Samsung wasn’t swayed. According to The Elec, the company is planning to launch the Galaxy S26 Edge next year, potentially replacing the Galaxy S25 Plus as part of a shift in the product line.
If the Galaxy S26 Plus is replaced by the S26 Edge, it wouldn’t come as a major surprise. Both phones feature similar display sizes and dimensions, but the Edge model is thinner, giving it a more premium appearance and elevated positioning in the lineup. Hopefully, Samsung will resolve one key issue of the S25 Edge: its relatively small 3900 mAh battery (the S25 Plus fares better in this regard).
That said, we can’t be sure the company will move forward with the new device until we see how the S25 Edge performs on the market. For now, Samsung is experimenting — and none of this is officially confirmed.
