The system requirements for PC have increased, and it’s time to say goodbye to the PlayStation 4. Support for the game on Sony’s console will soon be discontinued.
Genshin Impact will be removed from the PlayStation Store on September 10, but accounts that have previously downloaded the game will be able to download it again at any time. Purchases in Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4 will end on February 25, and update support will end on April 8. After that date, users will no longer be able to log in. MiHoYo wrote the following in a statement:
“Dear Traveler, thank you for your continued support and love for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4! Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will discontinue support and updates for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4 in future versions. Genshin Impact on PlayStation 5 will continue to operate normally and will not be affected by the removal and update discontinuation on PlayStation 4. Travelers will still be able to enjoy the latest content updates on PlayStation 5 and other supported platforms. The removal and discontinuation plan for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4 will be carried out in three phases: Game Removal, In-Game Purchases Delisting, and End of Update Support,” wrote MiHoYo.
Items purchased from the PlayStation Store but not yet redeemed in the game can be claimed after April 8 by logging into the PlayStation 5 version of Genshin Impact. After logging in via the PlayStation 4 or 5 version, travelers can assign additional login methods via the following menu: Paimon Menu > Settings > Account > User Center. Starting December 17, a connection prompt will regularly appear on the game interface when you open Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4, even if it is an old version of the game that cannot be updated due to the end of updates.
Yes, the game has outgrown this console. No wonder. The options are the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, Android, and iOS.
