The end of the month is here again, and Sony has revealed which games PlayStation Plus subscribers can access for free in January.
This time, it was announced on New Year’s Eve, the Wednesday before the first Tuesday of the month, so on December 31, Sony revealed which games PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium subscribers can add to their accounts to play as long as their subscription is active.
The first game in January is Need for Speed Unbound for the PlayStation 5, the latest installment in the franchise. It was previously available to PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium subscribers from February 2024 to August 2025. This means that Sony is playing tricks again because this will be a repeat for mid- and high-level subscribers. The second game is Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4), a modernized version of a game that is a decade and a half old. The third game on our list is Core Keeper (PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4), the standard indie selection. Sony previously said that PlayStation 4 titles would no longer be guaranteed starting in January, yet there are still cross-gen titles.
As a reminder, here is a list of the games that became available for free in December. There is still time to catch up on them, as there are more games on the list than usual this time of year. The first title is Lego Horizon Adventures (PlayStation 5). The second is Killing Floor 3 (PlayStation 5), arguably one of the year’s biggest disappointments. The third game is The Outlast Trials (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4). This time, there are not three but five titles available on PlayStation Plus Essential, and that’s where the extras come in. The fourth is Synduality: Echo of Ada (PlayStation 5), and the fifth is Neon White (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4).
The January games will be available on January 6. We expected a stronger start from Sony.
