Halo Campaign Evolved: Who Are the Co-Developers? [VIDEO]

Another rumor has surfaced regarding the second remake of the original Halo game. This time, it has been revealed who is helping develop Master Chief’s story.

Before the official announcement of Campaign Evolved, some details had already emerged, including the fact that Abstraction is the game’s co-developer. However, there was no direct evidence to confirm this. The official announcement confirmed all the previously reported information except for the co-developer’s identity. However, Rebs Gaming has now received direct confirmation from two developers, one current and one former, that Abstraction is handling a significant portion of Halo Campaign Evolved‘s development, specifically the campaign missions’ level and technical design. This information is discussed in the video below.

The video also mentions that Abstraction began co-development in the summer of 2023, Virtuos acquired the studio in January 2025, and Abstraction returned to independent ownership in December 2025. There was a minor complication in this regard, though it likely won’t have a significant impact on development.

Halo has always been the crown jewel of Xbox. When the first Xbox was released in 2001, Master Chief was the console’s flagship character. He continued to fulfill that role for a decade and a half before Microsoft shifted to a multiplatform strategy. Now, Xbox Game Studios‘ games are released on both consoles and PCs on the same day. Sony not only refuses to follow this strategy, but is reportedly turning away from the platform altogether, as previously reported in the news.

However, it’s worth noting that this is the second remake, and not by accident. The Xbox 360 had Halo Anniversary, so the game was released on that console as well. However, there was also Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which was released on PC after the Xbox One. The new remake is called Campaign Evolved because this time, they’re only revamping the story mode – the multiplayer component is left out.
