The game from Bitmap Bureau and Limited Run Games was supposed to arrive very soon, but those plans have changed drastically – and not in a good way.
Up until now, the plan had been for the game to launch on April 28. That was a fairly specific date, but the new window is not – all that is locked in now is that it will arrive sometime this summer on everything except Nintendo Switch 2. That makes it a cross-gen title, which is unusual in itself, especially since it is also coming to consoles that are nearly 13 years old. It is almost like getting a new PS1 release sometime around 2007-2008…

“A special notice to the Heroic Warriors of Eternia. We’re nearing the end of development for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction. To ensure this release excites and challenges fans of all generations, more development time is needed. Rest assured, you’ll soon be venturing through Eternia as He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and She-Ra in peak arcade glory!
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will be released digitally this summer for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Thank you for your continued patience as we refine the game to deliver an experience worthy of our fans. We look forward to welcoming players to Eternia as they join He-Man in defending the planet from Skeletor”, the statement says.
So it is still unclear exactly when the game will arrive, and it does have an exceptionally long title. We still think it is genuinely difficult to say He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction in a single breath. The game is now set for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime this summer. One extra curiosity is that Limited Run Games is the publisher, even though that company is usually the one associated with physical and disc-based releases…
