Halo Infinite: Many Thought It Was Dead, But It Just Came Back With A New Mode!

Months after what was described as the final update, Halo Studios has expanded Halo Infinite with a new PvE mode, and Firefight: Gauntlet is not built for a relaxed evening shootout.

Halo Studios has made a bold move by announcing a new content update for Halo Infinite. Players now have the chance to test themselves in a new multiplayer mode that is almost certain to challenge even the most dedicated Spartans: Firefight: Gauntlet. The most interesting part of this move is not only that Halo Infinite fans have another challenge to face, but also that it arrives months after Halo Studios released what had been described as the game’s final patch.

Let us start with the features of Firefight: Gauntlet. According to the official Halo website, the latest installment in the franchise has been surprisingly updated with a PvE game mode for groups of up to four players, essentially offering a roguelike experience. In this mode, players must eliminate hordes of enemies across five maps and defeat the boss of each area, all while surviving every encounter and making sure none of their teammates run out of ammunition.

Players taking part in these battles will at least get a breather between fights. The five stages of Firefight: Gauntlet connect to a supply area where equipment, ammunition, or abilities can be restocked, and this is complemented by the possibility of leveling up personal buffs such as speed, stamina, regeneration, and damage. The idea, however, is not to throw upgrades around carelessly, but to think carefully about what you want to obtain in this area, because smart use of the supply zone can make the difference between life and death in a match. “Between rounds, you’ll have a chance to improve your stats and gear up before the next attack; so choose wisely! Survive five rounds and victory will be yours.”

This is not a lighthearted mode designed for casual gaming sessions with friends. According to Halo Studios, Firefight: Gauntlet is a “fiendishly difficult” mode expressly designed “to challenge even the toughest Spartans.” Its difficulty can be adjusted, but the core idea is to offer an ideal experience for those looking for a real challenge in Halo Infinite.

A Surprise After The Latest Update

As mentioned at the beginning of this article, the arrival of Firefight: Gauntlet has surprised many Halo Infinite players. After all, Halo Studios announced a few months ago that Operation Infinite, released on November 18, would be the shooter’s final content update. However, it seems someone decided to keep pushing forward with the development and implementation of new features, and hopefully Firefight: Gauntlet will be followed by more modes capable of bringing fresh momentum to the latest major Halo installment.
