One-O-One Games and Daedalic Entertainment have renamed the game formerly known as The Fading of Nicole Wilson, and they have also set its release window. The new title is Curse of the Crimson Stag, and the story centers on an abandoned hotel, local myths, supernatural danger, and a documentary adventure.
Curse of the Crimson Stag is a story-driven mystery thriller in which players explore the blurred line between supernatural events and past tragedies. You must uncover what led to the abandonment of the once-luxurious Whiteroot Hotel. Local legend speaks of a wrathful spirit known as the Crimson Stag. Brit, a teenage girl bored with the isolation of her hometown, seizes the chance for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure: helping to make a documentary about the ruined Whiteroot Hotel. The once-luxurious hotel stands abandoned in the American Northwest, while local folklore tells ghostly stories and speaks of angry spirits as the reason for its downfall.
The Whiteroot Hotel was built by a wealthy businessman hoping to attract tourism to the region, but it eventually became the site of a series of mysterious deaths and the complete collapse of its owners. Abandoned and left to rot, its walls have held the secrets of the past for 18 years. The locals, who have strong ties to regional myths and folklore, tell stories about an entity known as the Crimson Stag: a kind of protective spirit said to live in the dark woods nearby. Whether it is local superstition or not, all of this makes the perfect foundation for a documentary, and for Brit, a chance to finally be discovered.
Once Brit begins exploring the hotel under the instructions of professional ghost hunter Emily, it quickly becomes clear that she is in over her head. The Whiteroot Hotel does not give up its secrets easily, and whether supernatural forces or dark schemes are behind it all, the curse of the Crimson Stag soon threatens to claim her as well. This narrative adventure game combines exploration, puzzle-solving, and investigation. A folk-horror atmosphere, mysterious and thrilling storytelling, and beautiful yet haunting locations await inside and around the Whiteroot Hotel. Curse of the Crimson Stag, the game’s new name, will be released sometime this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
