Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2: Major Update And Huge Sale [VIDEO]

Saber Interactive’s game still has a faster pace in its multiplayer mode than Bungie’s Marathon reboot has shown so far.

Not only has Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 been a massive sales success for Saber, but it has also demonstrated impressive longevity as a multiplayer title. Its most recent daily peak concurrent player count exceeded 21,000, surpassing Dune: Awakening and Marathon. That’s not bad for a game that launched as a traditional, linear action experience. Much of this success is thanks to Saber’s impressive update schedule. Since the game’s release, Saber has added tons of new missions, monsters, classes, and more to its Left 4 Dead-style co-op mode. This is the kind of update schedule we’d expect from a live service game.

These updates aren’t slowing down. Another major update arrived during the recent Warhammer Skulls event. Update 13.0 adds a new mission to the game’s Operations mode, Purgation, in which the team must retake a Mechanicus facility in the Kadaku Marshes. The update also adds a combat simulator where players can practice before heading out on real missions and the ability to swap out perks and gear mid-game. It also offers expanded customization options.

The biggest changes, however, have taken place in Siege mode, the horde-style scenario introduced last June. The update, dubbed Siege 2.0, introduces significant changes to the mode. First, it introduces a new blessing and penance system that grants players extra benefits every five waves while incorporating modifiers into the game. The difficulty level has been increased to make gameplay more challenging, and new bosses appear after every five waves. According to Saber, the goal is to make Siege Mode faster and more intense while providing players with more character-building options to ensure a unique experience for each player. Due to the extent of the changes, the update will reset the number of completed waves in players’ save files.

This update coincides with a free trial of Space Marine 2 and a 70% discount on the game. The demo includes two campaign missions, three operations, and all PvP modes. You can purchase the full game for €/$18 until June 3.
