MOVIE NEWS – Netflix has released new posters for Enola Holmes 3, and the images suggest that Millie Bobby Brown’s detective should not expect a quiet private life this time either. Henry Cavill returns as Sherlock Holmes, while Louis Partridge’s Tewkesbury does not exactly look like the happiest groom as the third film moves toward its July premiere.
Netflix has released two new posters for Enola Holmes 3, the third film in its ongoing detective franchise, with Millie Bobby Brown returning as Enola Holmes. The character may be Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister, but the first two movies already made it clear that she is not simply a supporting figure living in her brother’s shadow. She is a formidable sleuth in her own right. Henry Cavill is also returning as Sherlock, and while the series still belongs to Enola, Netflix is clearly aware that Cavill’s presence remains one of the strongest draws of the franchise.
First-look images released back in January had already revealed that Enola’s long-running love interest, Tewkesbury, played by Louis Partridge, proposes to her in the third film. The new posters, however, suggest that the wedding does not go smoothly. In one image, Enola stands on top of a moving carriage in a wedding dress, complete with a flowing white veil, while aiming a shotgun at something offscreen. Netflix’s official logline sends Enola to Malta, where her personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than anything she has faced before. Looking at that poster, it is hard to decide whether the dress, the carriage or the shotgun is the most worrying sign.
The Wedding Is in Trouble, but That May Be When Enola Holmes Works Best
Louis Partridge previously teased that Enola and Tewkesbury “go through a bit of a rough patch” in this film, and the second poster suggests that this is not just empty promotional phrasing. The image shows Tewkesbury sitting on the steps outside his own wedding, with a bouquet of flowers at his feet and very little triumph on his face. Several familiar figures can also be seen in the background. Henry Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes is seated in the back row on the right, which is a slightly strange seating choice for his own sister’s wedding, though the poster clearly wants his face visible. A few rows in front of him sits Enola’s mother, Eudoria Holmes, played by Helena Bonham Carter, while Sherlock’s right-hand man, Dr. Watson, played by Himesh Patel, appears on the left side of the aisle.
Netflix had previously released several other images from the third film, and those first looks suggest that Enola Holmes 3 is not relying only on romantic complications, but on genuine danger as well. The film takes Enola to Malta, where her personal plans and detective instincts come under pressure at the same time. That fits the pattern of the earlier movies: Enola has always worked best when social expectations, family dynamics and a concrete mystery are all closing in on her at once. The third film appears to push that formula further, this time toward wedding chaos and a more international case.
The Familiar Team Returns, but There Is a Change Behind the Camera
The Enola Holmes franchise has built its reputation on sharp dialogue, energetic plotting and the easy chemistry between its characters. The first two installments were major hits for Netflix, and many viewers considered the second film even stronger than the first. There is continuity on the writing side: Jack Thorne, who wrote the first two movies, is back for the third, which suggests that the series’ voice should remain intact. The director’s chair, however, has changed. Philip Barantini replaces Harry Bradbeer, who directed the first two films, and that could alter the rhythm and visual approach of the sequel.
The cast still rests on familiar foundations. Millie Bobby Brown returns as Enola Holmes, Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury, Himesh Patel as Dr. Watson and Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Moriarty. The third film is therefore trying to preserve the familiar appeal of one of Netflix’s most successful young detective franchises while forcing Enola into a new kind of pressure. The question is no longer only whether she can solve the case, but whether she can handle her own life with the same stubborn intelligence she uses to uncover other people’s secrets. Enola Holmes 3 arrives on Netflix on July 1, with the first trailer expected on May 27.
