[XGS 2026] DOOM: The Dark Ages: New DLC and a Free Update Coming Soon [VIDEO]

id Software’s game will expand in both paid and free form in a few weeks, letting us return to the story of the Doom Slayer.

Revelations, which is available separately for $20 and is also included in the Digital Upgrade, Premium Edition, and Collector’s Bundle versions, opens an entirely new dimension of combat: the brand-new and deadly Chain Spear offers returning Slayers a uniquely satisfying combat system – one that rewards mastery with increased power and mobility. With new levels featuring more complex puzzles, new demons, and new mysteries, the DLC gives players plenty of new experiences.

“Wounded and betrayed, the Slayer is thrust into a merciless purgatory, from which he can escape only by confronting haunting truths and forging new strength with the help of a mysterious ally. He must ascend from the prison of his mind and fight an abomination of the gods to set his followers on the path to freedom” – reads Bethesda’s blog post about the DLC.

Alongside Revelations, the Ripatorium 3.0 update will also arrive, free for all existing players. This update enables deeper customization options, improved passcode generation, and the ability to save and load personal presets. Owners of the Premium Edition or Collector’s Bundle will gain access to 3 new maps, new demons, and fully upgraded new weapons after completing the DLC.

So DOOM: The Dark Ages is about to receive a major expansion, and we can also say exactly when: the Revelations DLC arrives on July 7, and the Ripatorium 3.0 update will appear on the same day for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Doom Slayer’s adventure is also available in the Xbox Game Pass lineup, where the two previous entries can likewise be accessed: the 2016 DOOM reboot and 2020’s DOOM Eternal.

Of course, looking at the images, we have to say that someone has bulked up a bit. Quite a lot, actually. But never mind, that is not the point.
