Bandai Namco is preparing a larger content expansion for the game, which released almost half a year ago.
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, Code Vein II launched on January 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. The publisher has now announced the paid story expansion The Mask of Idris, which will arrive alongside a free Version 2.0 update.
Code Vein II takes players on an epic journey where time itself becomes a weapon. Players travel between past and present versions of an explorable world while fighting through a dramatic struggle to save humanity.
The Mask of Idris offers an exploration adventure set in the Forsaken World. This alternate realm was formed from the passions and remains of worlds that vanished as a result of historical alterations and became fused together.
At the center of the area stands a colossal swirling spindle that continuously absorbs emotions originating from different points across time and space. The phenomenon now threatens to affect the real world as well.
During the new story, players cross paths with Liv Voda, the alluring but combative guardian of time and space. The DLC is post-game content, so players must reach the Luna Fraterna ending in the main story and complete the side mission Valentin’s Request before beginning the new campaign.
A free Version 2.0 update will arrive at the same time as the expansion. It will include several additions, including new content that allows players to explore the world after the end of the main story with their partners.
Bandai Namco has not yet published a full breakdown of the update’s contents or its later additions. The exact release date for The Mask of Idris and Version 2.0 is also still unknown.
Code Vein II’s action-RPG systems revolve around draining blood from enemies. That resource can unlock powerful abilities, while Blood Codes allow players to build different combat strategies and unique equipment called Jails helps them overcome tougher enemies and major bosses.
The sequel also introduces the Partner System, allowing players to switch seamlessly between two combat forms. The detailed character creator for the Revenant Hunter has returned as well, with options for body type, hairstyle, facial expressions, accessories, makeup, and much more.
Hot springs located throughout the world let players view their character under different lighting conditions, while Photo Mode can be used to capture and save custom creations.
