Will Another Classic The Legend of Zelda Game Head to the Nintendo Switch 2? [VIDEO]

Rumors suggest that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake may not be the only classic return headed to Nintendo’s hybrid platform.

Announced during last month’s Nintendo Direct, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake could become the first entry in the series built from the ground up specifically for Nintendo Switch 2. Very few official details are known about the game so far, but rumors suggest that Nintendo may already be considering the next major return of an older classic.

According to Nash Weedle, speaking on the Partida Zero podcast, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess could be the next game to receive a new version for Nintendo’s current-generation console. The leaker said that he had heard fairly strong reports about the project, while the situation around The Wind Waker appears much less certain.

“Until quite recently, I had heard nothing about Zelda: Twilight Princess, but it seems a new version could arrive at some point. I have said for a while that I was not expecting either Wind Waker or Twilight Princess unless they could add something new, but now that is possible with Switch 2.

I have heard fairly strong rumors about Twilight Princess, but with Wind Waker, it seems the situation is still up in the air.” Nash Weedle said during an episode of the podcast.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess originally launched for GameCube and Wii, later receiving an HD version on Wii U. A new release optimized for Nintendo Switch 2 would therefore need to offer more than a resolution increase to make its return truly worthwhile.

The newer hardware could indeed enable additions that were not feasible on the original Switch. That remains speculation for now, however, because Nintendo has not announced a new edition of either Twilight Princess or The Wind Waker.

The rumor should also be treated carefully because, while Nash Weedle has reportedly been accurate on several Nintendo-related claims in recent months, prominent insider Nate the Hate has not been able to confirm this specific information.

If The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is genuinely followed by Twilight Princess, it will be interesting to see how Nintendo positions both games within the series’ plans for the coming years. A completely new mainline entry is likely in development too, so the return of older classics and the franchise’s future could shape the Switch 2 era together.
