Switch 2 Players Were Disappointed, so Owlcat Games Is Apologizing With Nearly €60 Worth of Free DLC

The Nintendo Switch 2 launch of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader frustrated players with serious technical and optimization issues. Owlcat Games is now trying to repair the damage with a massive update, while also giving console owners every piece of additional content released so far at no extra cost. The package is worth nearly €60.

The Nintendo Switch 2 release of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader was far from smooth. The RPG arrived on the hybrid console in December 2025 with a version affected by numerous technical problems, performance issues, and poor optimization, leaving many Warhammer fans disappointed and frustrated. Owlcat Games did not ignore the criticism, however, and is now trying to fix the title’s biggest problems through a major update. The creators of Pathfinder: Kingmaker have also decided to give Switch 2 players every piece of additional content released so far for free. The studio is therefore not only attempting to repair the game technically, but also offering tangible compensation for its troubled launch.

Owlcat Games addressed the complaints about Rogue Trader’s performance in a Reddit post. At the beginning of its statement, the team openly admitted that it underestimated the technical difficulty of creating a native Switch 2 port. “First and foremost, we want to apologize. This was our first experience with a native port of a game for Nintendo Switch 2, and unfortunately, we underestimated the related technical challenges and failed to deliver appropriate quality,” the statement reads.

The developers therefore worked on a major update intended to eliminate many of the problems encountered by players. According to the team, the game has undergone an extensive optimization process, while numerous bugs responsible for crashes have also been fixed. “The game has undergone a thorough optimization process, and numerous bugs that caused crashes have been fixed. We’ve made significant improvements to the mouse controls and recorded several videos in handheld mode to show how the game performs after these changes,” Owlcat Games explained.

All Additional Content Is Now Free for Switch 2 Players

The studio is fully aware that the game’s original condition fell well below the expectations of Nintendo Switch 2 owners, so it decided to provide further compensation. Owners of the Switch 2 version of Rogue Trader can now access every piece of additional content released so far completely free of charge. This includes the Deluxe Pack bonuses, as well as both currently available DLC expansions, Void Shadows and Lex Imperialis. The package, worth close to €60, no longer needs to be purchased separately and has been made available to affected players.

Owlcat Games has not finished its work yet. More updates for the Switch 2 version are already in development, and another patch focused on additional bug fixes and optimization improvements is on the way. The studio’s goal is to ensure that players on Nintendo’s console can ultimately experience the Rogue Trader RPG adventure at the level of quality they should have received from the beginning.
