Bloodborne is not the only game that is only available on a PlayStation console and nowhere else. We can find such exclusive titles in previous generations as well.
Demon’s Souls, an iconic game that sparked the “Souls-clone” phenomenon, never broke free from the PlayStation 3—just as the Bluepoint Games remake will likely remain a PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, thanks to the RPCS3 emulator, the game is fully playable on PC. Fans will soon be able to enjoy the now-classic action RPG developed by FromSoftware with significant visual enhancements provided by the PC Remaster mod.
Fromsoftserve, the developer behind the impressive Bloodborne Remaster Project, created the visual overhaul that modifies the game’s models so they react to light sources, such as torches on the walls or campfires. Additionally, the mod uses cubemaps to render armor and adds normal and reflective textures to most surfaces. It also refines the shadows of players and objects so they blend properly with the baked-in shadows. Since development is still in its early stages, Fromsoftserve has only released a demo of the PC Remaster mod for Demon’s Souls on Nexus Mods. The demo includes the two tutorial levels. Looking at the comparison screenshots, however, it’s clear that this remaster will be the best way to experience the game on PC once completed (until emulators like SharpEmu can properly emulate the Demon’s Souls remake).
Demon’s Souls is widely regarded as one of the best games developed by FromSoftware. If you’re planning to experience it for the first time through this remaster, you’re in for a treat. Although the game lacks many improvements introduced in the Dark Souls series and isn’t as challenging as later games, the design of certain areas remains unmatched.
The Tower of Latria and the Shrine of Storms, for example, leave a lasting impression unlike the locations in other Souls games.
