MOVIE NEWS – Netflix has set September 17 as the premiere date for Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 2, only months after the animated series made its debut. The animated spin-off will return to Hawkins with new stories while continuing the legacy of the original series.
Stranger Things concluded its main live-action story in December 2025, but the world built around Hawkins continues on Netflix. One of its central extensions is Tales from ’85, which follows Eleven and her friends during the winter of 1985, between the flagship show’s second and third seasons, as they face a new supernatural mystery.
Developed by Eric Robles with the Duffer Brothers, the animated spin-off premiered on April 23 and reached the top of the streaming charts within hours. Netflix renewed it only five days later, and the company has now confirmed that the second season will arrive on September 17, 2026.
The new episodes pick up directly after the first-season finale. The toxic influence of the Upside Down begins to seep into the winter landscape of Hawkins, while the Hawkins Investigators Club faces mutated creatures, ghostly apparitions, and unexplored locations, including a mine that the franchise has not visited before.
According to the official synopsis, mysterious spectral figures and so-called hate sprites begin causing chaos as Valentine’s Day approaches. The group must uncover the truth behind the paranormal events before a new gate to the Upside Down is torn open.
The exceptionally short break between seasons suggests that work on the continuation may have started before the formal renewal. That allowed Netflix to capitalize on the first season’s momentum and spare Stranger Things fans the multi-year wait often associated with the wider franchise.
