PS5 Pro has sold out at several major US retailers following GTA VI‘s extended showcase. Some resellers are now asking as much as $1,300 for Sony’s $900 console.

Rockstar Games’ latest detailed presentation of Grand Theft Auto VI appears to have sparked a surge of interest in PlayStation hardware. PS5 Pro is unavailable at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and other major US retailers, while the few units that surface are being offered at substantial markups.

The situation is notable because Rockstar has so far demonstrated only the base PlayStation 5 version. The game looked impressive on that hardware, yet many buyers are choosing Sony’s most powerful current console in the expectation that it will deliver the best console experience.

Following recent price increases, the PS5 Pro’s official US price sits at roughly $900. Tech4Gamers reports that available units have reached $1,300 in some listings, creating a premium of more than $400.

Rockstar has not announced any PS5 Pro-specific technical details for GTA VI. PSSR upscaling, stronger ray tracing, and steadier image quality are plausible advantages, but a 60 frames-per-second mode remains far from guaranteed.

The shortage does not prove that GTA VI alone caused the demand spike, but the timing points to a clear connection. Interest in PS5 Pro could rise further as the game’s planned November 19 launch approaches.
