MOVIE NEWS – The new six-part Treasure Island series will premiere on MGM+ on October 11, 2026. The classic adventure will therefore return to screens before Ridley Scott’s separate feature film starring Hugh Jackman.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s enduring novel is preparing to return through two major adaptations. The MGM+ and Paramount+ co-production will launch this fall, while a separate Ridley Scott feature is set to cast Hugh Jackman as Long John Silver.

The six-part television version centers on David Oyelowo’s Long John Silver and Tom Sweet’s Jim Hawkins. Hayley Atwell plays Bess Hawkins, Jack Huston appears as Aaron Graham, and Tomer Capone joins the cast as Billy Bones.

Robert Murphy created the series, with Jeremy Lovering, Paul Walker and William McGregor directing episodes. Its US premiere is set for October 11, 2026, on MGM+, while Paramount+ will distribute the production in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The other adaptation is being developed as a feature film directed by Ridley Scott, with Hugh Jackman playing the infamous pirate. The two projects are not connected, but their simultaneous development shows just how firmly Stevenson’s adventure has returned to Hollywood’s radar.

The MGM+ series will arrive first, offering the earliest look at how the classic story works for a modern audience. With its October date, the pirate adventure could become one of the fall television season’s most ambitious period productions.
