While the game from Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment has indeed achieved decent sales in Europe, the results are skewed by a few factors.
A week and a half ago, Focus Entertainment announced that Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 had sold more than 2 million copies internationally on the day of its release, and now Christopher Dring, editor-in-chief of Gamesindustry, has added to this. According to GSD data, Space Marine 2 became the second best-selling game in Europe in 2024, beaten only by Helldivers 2. It beat many big titles (The Last of Us 2: Remastered, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Tekken 8, F1 24, WWE 24, Star Wars Outlaws, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown).
But we didn’t say the picture wasn’t clear for nothing: two major games are missing from the list. Palworld (which we wrote earlier today might be in trouble regarding the PlayStation 5 port) and Black Myth: Wukong are not on the list because GSD does not track sales for the developers of these games. By February, Palworld had already sold over 15 million copies and Black Myth: Wukong had already sold over 20 million in just over a month, both of which are probably ahead of Warhammer’s latest game, so it might not even make the podium…
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will soon include support for ultra-wide screens, private PvE lobbies, and a sparring arena in Battle Barge. Season 2 will bring new PvE missions, a new enemy type, and a Lethal difficulty, while Season 3 will bring a new PvP game mode and arenas in addition to new PvE missions and an additional enemy type. Season 4 will also bring a Horde mode, a new enemy type, and a new weapon. Meanwhile, the game will start supporting Nvidia DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.
So the results are pretty good…
