Rebellion’s next game won’t be about sniper rifles or World War II, but a post-nuclear world.
Atomfall takes place in an alternate world where the Windscale fire was much bigger than it actually was. It’s worth explaining: the biggest nuclear accident in the UK happened on October 10th, 1957. On a scale of 7 (International Nuclear Event Scale) it was a level 5, so it was one of the most serious incidents in the world. The fire lasted three days, but Atomfall was much more severe. Five years have passed (so it’s 1962), and now you’re free to explore a fictional Quarantine Zone, where you can search for useful items, craft, trade, fight, and talk in British lands filled with bizarre characters, cults, and government agencies that have gone over to the other side…
Unravel a tapestry of interwoven stories through exploration, conversation, investigation, and combat, where every choice you make has consequences. The picturesque British countryside, with its rolling green hills, lush valleys and rural villages, belies the dangers that await you. You’ll have to scavenge for supplies, craft weapons and items, and fight desperately to make it out alive.
With weapons and ammunition in short supply, each frenetic battle will require you to combine marksmanship with vicious hand-to-hand combat. Manage your heart rate to maintain a steady aim and ensure you have the energy to grab your cricket bat (it is the United Kingdom after all!) and land that killer blow. Navigate cult-controlled ruins, natural caves, nuclear bunkers, and more as you explore this dense, foreboding world.
A fictional reimagining of a real-life event, Atomfall draws on science fiction, folk horror, and Cold War influences to create a world that is eerily familiar yet utterly alien. The game is now available for pre-order. At a base price of 50€ and 70€ for the digital deluxe version, the latter will include the Enhanced SupplyBundle, which gives you an exclusive pistol variant, a metal detector skin and character development. Of course, you’ll also get three days early access to the story expansion when it launches.
Atomfall will be released on March 27th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store – if no GOG is mentioned, it’s guaranteed to use Denuvo), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
