TECH NEWS – After the iPhone 16, which was significantly revised, especially in terms of Apple Intelligence, the 2024 model will already have a new look, according to leaks.
The iPhone 17 Air will be the thinnest iPhone ever made by the Cupertino company, and according to previous rumors, only its design could change, but now we’re hearing the opposite, and even the look of all models could change next year. The rumor is that Apple wants to bring back the aluminum design it used a few years ago, so they would not use titanium (first seen on the iPhone 15 Pro models).
According to The Information, Apple’s two new top-of-the-line models, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, will be completely redesigned and will feature this aluminum design along with the iPhone 17 Air. The aluminum frame is currently found on the base and Plus models of the iPhone, while the Pro versions have switched to stainless steel and then titanium. However, if the two more expensive models also switch to aluminum, there could still be issues with wireless charging. For this reason, the site claims that the back of the device will also have glass, allowing Apple to combine the two materials: the top will be aluminum and the bottom will have a small glass section. The camera bump will be larger than before and will be made of aluminum instead of the glass currently used. This is an interesting design change, and one wonders how Apple will mention it in its marketing. The last time the company used aluminum was on the more expensive 2017 iPhone X, so we’re in for a major redesign. The glass material on the bottom of the device could be used by the company for wireless charging, and it’s not yet known what the ratio of aluminum to glass will be.
None of this is official yet, but if this is indeed the direction Apple is going in, they will have their work cut out for them in terms of marketing, as the iPhone 16 is now being promoted as a kind of mini studio…
