Big News for Baldur’s Gate 3 Fans – New Franchise Plans Will Be Revealed Soon

The owners of Baldur’s Gate 3 have shared exciting news about the franchise’s future, and we won’t have to wait long to learn more. “We’re working on our future plans and what we’re going to do with the Baldur’s Gate series. And in fact, very soon, we’ll have some things to talk about,” Hasbro reveals.

The Baldur’s Gate franchise has become one of the most iconic names in the fantasy RPG genre, thanks to its deep storytelling, memorable characters, and gameplay inspired by Dungeons & Dragons mechanics. With the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios revived the series and set new standards for CRPGs. As a result, many players are eager to know what’s next for this legendary franchise.

For months, it’s been clear that the developers behind the 2023 Game of the Year won’t be continuing the Baldur’s Gate series. Larian Studios has already canceled both a sequel and an expansion. While Hasbro, the parent company of Wizards of the Coast and Dungeons & Dragons, has addressed the franchise’s future on multiple occasions, a new statement from an executive suggests that fans won’t have to wait long for updates.

The Future of Baldur’s Gate Will Be Revealed Soon

Dan Ayoub, Hasbro’s Senior Vice President of Digital Gaming, confirmed during an interview with IGN at the Game Developers Conference that plans for the Baldur’s Gate franchise are already in motion: “We’re really sorting out our plans for the future and what we’re going to do with it [the Baldur’s Gate series]. And actually, very soon, we’re going to have some things to talk about it,” he stated (via Gamespot). This aligns with Hasbro’s previous claims that “several video games will be released over the next 5-10 years.”

Hasbro’s Focus on Dungeons & Dragons Games

The massive success of Baldur’s Gate 3 has reshaped Hasbro’s plans, as a new Dungeons & Dragons game has been in the works for months. It’s also known that the developers of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 are collaborating with the owners of D&D on a major new game. Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks has high hopes for this AAA title, stating that it “will be a major success.” At present, more than five Dungeons & Dragons games are in development.
