Donkey Kong Bananza Fans Crack a Secret Alphabet Ahead of Release – And There’s a Mario Connection Too

There are still more than two months until release, but fans have already uncovered one of Donkey Kong Bananza’s secrets. Content creator 2Chrispy has deciphered a mysterious alphabet tied to this Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.

With less than a month to go before the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, gamers are combing through every bit of information Nintendo has shared about its new console and upcoming titles. While much of the chatter revolves around pricing and specs, some fans are diving into smaller details—like those hiding in Donkey Kong: Bananza. As it turns out, this new adventure contains its own cryptic alphabet… and one player has already cracked it.

That player is content creator 2Chrispy, who studied the strange symbols seen in trailers and gameplay demos of Donkey Kong: Bananza. He detailed his findings in a YouTube video (via Nintendo Life). By closely examining footage from the latest Nintendo Direct and the Nintendo Treehouse showcase, he noticed signs bearing icons reminiscent of the signage found in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. After a deeper analysis, he concluded that these symbols form a distinct alphabet.

In fact, the characters in Donkey Kong: Bananza correspond directly to letters in the standard alphabet. After spotting a set of symbols on a sign that translated to the word “Exchange,” 2Chrispy began mapping out the rest of the glyphs using in-game references. Though the entire alphabet isn’t complete, it’s clear he’s decoded one of the game’s secrets—well ahead of its official launch.

Nintendo Accidentally Teases a Link to Super Mario Odyssey

This isn’t the first mystery to emerge from Donkey Kong: Bananza. In fact, Nintendo itself appears to have slipped up by revealing a detail that could alter the game’s narrative. Without spoiling anything, an official Nintendo account recently shared a promotional image featuring a character from the Super Mario Odyssey universe. This suggests a unique narrative connection between the two franchises.
