While much of the chatter revolves around pricing and specs, some fans are diving into smaller details—like those hiding in Donkey Kong: Bananza. As it turns out, this new adventure contains its own cryptic alphabet… and one player has already cracked it.

That player is content creator 2Chrispy, who studied the strange symbols seen in trailers and gameplay demos of Donkey Kong: Bananza. He detailed his findings in a YouTube video (via Nintendo Life). By closely examining footage from the latest Nintendo Direct and the Nintendo Treehouse showcase, he noticed signs bearing icons reminiscent of the signage found in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. After a deeper analysis, he concluded that these symbols form a distinct alphabet.

In fact, the characters in Donkey Kong: Bananza correspond directly to letters in the standard alphabet. After spotting a set of symbols on a sign that translated to the word “Exchange,” 2Chrispy began mapping out the rest of the glyphs using in-game references. Though the entire alphabet isn’t complete, it’s clear he’s decoded one of the game’s secrets—well ahead of its official launch.
