Daniel Craig’s Oscar-Nominated Mystery Thriller Netflix Franchise Returns in Haunting New Teaser

MOVIE NEWS – Rian Johnson’s Benoit Blanc mystery series, which began in 2019 with Knives Out and continued with Glass Onion in 2022, has proven to be a fresh and modern spin on classic whodunits. Johnson’s flair for crafting clever mysteries has also been on display in Poker Face Season 2, which is airing now. A new teaser has arrived for the third Knives Out installment, titled Wake Up Dead Man, and it’s as chilling as the name suggests.

The teaser runs only 12 seconds, featuring no dialogue or music—just haunting visuals of a church and graveyard. The bell tolls louder and louder before the screen fades to black. The ominous caption reads: “The wicked desire the stronghold of evildoers, but the root of the righteous endures.”

That quote is taken from the biblical book of Proverbs, perfectly matching the church-themed images. Netflix hasn’t shared story details yet, but they’ve hinted this could be Benoit Blanc’s most dangerous mystery yet. With an impressive ensemble cast, Wake Up Dead Man is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films on the streamer this year.

‘Wake Up Dead Man’ Boasts a Star-Studded Cast

Returning as Benoit Blanc, Daniel Craig is joined by an all-star lineup, even though the plot is under wraps. Josh O’Connor, recently seen in 2024’s Challengers, will play a priest and appears in the teaser image next to Craig. Josh Brolin (Dune) will also appear as a priest, while Mila Kunis has been cast as a police chief.

Other confirmed cast members include Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church, although their roles are still a mystery. It’s amusing to note that Renner was referenced in Glass Onion, leading some to speculate he could be playing himself. As with past Benoit Blanc mysteries, it’s part of the fun to guess which actors will play the bigger roles alongside Craig.

The first Knives Out film had Ana de Armas and Lakeith Stanfield as Blanc’s investigative partners, while Glass Onion featured Janelle Monáe infiltrating billionaire Edward Norton’s estate, pretending to be her twin sister at Blanc’s request. The Wake Up Dead Man cast promises more intriguing pairings with Craig, and fans are eager to see new footage, possibly at Netflix’s TUDUM event on May 31.
