No, not bullet hell—bullet heaven! Dark Point Games has tweaked the definition of its game slightly.
In Achilles: Survivor, players can choose from a diverse roster of heroes, including Achilles, a boulder-throwing Cyclops, and a small but mighty rooster god. Each character has a unique skill set that challenges players to master different gameplay styles. Battle hordes of the underworld on various playable maps inspired by locales from the mythological story of Achilles, such as Troy and Tartarus. Level up your character during each run to elevate them from hero to god of destruction, gaining stronger power-ups and abilities along the way. Increase your team’s overall stats between runs to improve your odds of defeating Hades’ minions as you confront more lethal monsters and bosses.
After the Trojan War, Hades resurrected Achilles to use him in a conflict against the other gods. Once Achilles had served his purpose, however, Hades betrayed him, casting him into the depths of Tartarus and condemning him to eternal torment. Refusing to accept this fate, Achilles broke free from the Underworld and rescued many lost souls, including some who had fallen to his own sword. Angered by this defiance, Hades unleashed his dark minions to hunt down Achilles and all the souls he freed. Take on the mantle of Achilles or one of the others he rescued from Tartarus. Prepare for a fight that will take you beyond the land of the living in hopes of thwarting Hades and his army of the damned.
Expand your arsenal with traps and fortifications. Choose from numerous heroes, each with unique combat powers. Slay thousands of enemies, develop your character, and return stronger. Face powerful bosses and hundreds of enemy types in different biomes. Return from each expedition with treasures that will make you stronger.
Achilles: The game Survivor was released on PC on January 29, with version 1.0 coming later this year. A console release is expected around the same time, but unfortunately, we missed out on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
